Your Bio Page Is Your Brand Now — Not Ours

Zippy's link-in-bio page got a full redesign: a two-pane editor with a live phone preview, presets, fonts, button shapes, gradients, background images and avatar shapes — all yours to set. Every button still springs the real native app, and your existing page doesn't shift a pixel until you touch it.

Zippy, the lightning-bolt mascot

Zippy: a bio page is a stage for YOUR brand. we'd stopped putting our sticker on it.

Here's a thing we got wrong, out loud: your Zippy bio page looked like Zippy. Our blocky display font. Our offset sticker button. Our mascot squatting in the avatar slot when you hadn't uploaded a picture. A page you send your whole audience to, wearing our house style instead of yours.

That's fixed today. Your bio page at zipthe.link/@you is now fully yours to style — and the one thing that made it worth having didn't change at all: every button still springs the real native app.

Two panes, and a phone that updates as you type

Open the editor and it's split. Content on one side — your blocks and their order. Design on the other — the whole page's look. A live phone preview sits on the right and repaints on every keystroke, because it's literally the same renderer that serves your public page. There's no "save and go check": what you're looking at is the page.

Restyling in Design never means touching a single block. Pick a new palette, a new font, a new button shape, and every block on the page follows.

Start from a preset, then change one thing

The Design tab opens on a gallery of presets. Each one is a whole look — colours, font, button style, background — not the three hex boxes you used to get. Pick the closest, then override any single knob. Nothing is a lock: change the font and the rest of the preset stays put.

Then the knobs:

  • Background — solid, a gradient (second colour + angle), or an image (paste a public https:// URL). Put a photo back there and we paint a legibility scrim behind your text so it stays readable — a page you can't read is the gap we're beating, not shipping.
  • Font — a small, curated set (a bold display, a clean sans, a mono, a serif, a rounded, a condensed), each rendered in its own face in the picker so you choose by eye. You pick a name, never type a font family — and only fonts already on the page are offered, so switching one never slows your page down for your audience.
  • Buttons — a shape × fill matrix. Shape: pill, rounded, rectangle. Fill: solid, outline, soft, hard. Compact control, wide range, live preview as you flip it.
  • Avatar — circle, rounded, or square. No picture? You get a themed initials monogram in your accent colour, not a stray mascot.

And a small thing that matters: as you pick colours, a contrast check warns you when your text is hard to read over your background. It warns — it never blocks. Your page, your call. But you won't ship something unreadable without being told, which is more than some of the tools you're leaving can say.

Every field, one at a time: the customise docs.

Two new blocks, same wedge

The redesign brought two ways to build a richer page — both keeping the rule that a block never holds a raw URL.

Image card. A picture-forward block: an image, an optional label and note. Its kind styles the card — Product adds a price-style subtitle, Video adds a play overlay. But the image is presentation only; the tap still routes through one of your Zippy links to the real app. So you get the Bento/Linktree rich-card look, and the product card, and the video thumbnail — without a single on-page player that would trap the tap in a webview. One block, three jobs, wedge intact.

Featured link. Toggle Featured on any link and it renders enlarged and emphasised — the one call to action you want tapped first, without reordering the whole page.

The part we did not touch

This is the point of the whole design. Styling is cosmetic all the way down. A button is still one of your Zippy links, so a tap still runs through the redirect engine and springs the actual native app out of the Instagram or TikTok in-app browser — and your page still reports the app-open rate per block. Colours, fonts and background art never come near the destination. A prettier page that opens the app beats a plain one that opens the app; neither beats a page that doesn't.

Your live page doesn't move until you do

Every design field is optional, and absent means today's look. A page you published last month renders byte-for-byte identical until you open the Design tab and change something. No control ships and quietly repaints pages your audience already knows. And the same downgrade rule holds as everywhere in Zippy: your public page keeps painting the style you saved, whatever your plan is today. A downgrade never repaints your page.

What costs money

The page, the image-card block, and featured links are free on every plan. The full Design tab — fonts, button styles, gradients, background images, avatar shapes, custom colours — is Hero ($19/mo), the same tier as your per-block analytics. Style your page on Hero, downgrade later, and the look you saved keeps rendering.

On the phone

The mobile app carries the same theme controls as segmented pickers in the colours card. Setting a background image stays web-only — it needs a URL to paste — but a page you styled on the web keeps its image and gradient when you edit it on your phone. Mobile round-trips the whole theme and only changes the field you touch, so nothing you set on the desktop gets wiped by a tap on mobile.

Try it in about three minutes

  1. Dashboard → Link in bioDesign tab.
  2. Pick a preset that's close, then change the font and the button style.
  3. Watch the phone preview on the right update as you go.
  4. Add an image card for your latest drop, and mark your main link Featured.

Every guardrail and field: the docs. Shipped today in the changelog.

FAQ

How do I customise my link-in-bio page?

Open your bio editor and switch to the Design tab. Start from a preset, then override any knob: background (solid, a gradient, or a public https:// image URL), text and button colours, a font from the curated set, your button's shape and fill, and your avatar's shape. A live phone preview updates as you type, and a contrast check warns you if text is hard to read. Customising is Hero and up; the page and its blocks are free on every plan. Nothing you change alters what a tap does — every button still springs the real native app.

Can I change the font and background on my Zippy bio page?

Yes. Pick any font from the curated set — shown in its own face in the picker — and set your background to a solid colour, a gradient with your own second colour and angle, or a public image URL. We add a legibility scrim behind your text over a photo. Fonts are picked by name from an allow-list, so your page never pays a font-loading tax that would slow it for your audience.

Does customising my bio page break the links that open the app?

No. Design controls are cosmetic only. Every block still points at one of your Zippy links, so every tap still runs through the redirect engine, springs the real native app, and is measured. Styling never touches the destination.

Will my existing bio page change when this ships?

No. Every new design field is optional, and absent means today's exact look. Your published page renders byte-for-byte the same until you open the Design tab and change something yourself.

What's the difference between Zippy's bio customization and Linktree's?

Linktree buttons are URLs, so however you style them a tap opens a webpage inside the in-app browser. On Zippy every styled button is a real link through the redirect engine, so it opens the actual native app — and your page reports the share of taps on each block that got there. You get the theme controls and the number no URL-based bio tool can print.

Is bio page customization free?

The page, the image-card block, and featured links are free on every plan. The full Design tab — fonts, button styles, gradients, background images, avatar shapes and custom colours — is Hero and up. A page you styled on Hero keeps its look if you downgrade.
