One Product, Not Four Features

Zippy's dashboard is now four areas — Audience, Automations, Broadcasts, Links — with the connections between them built into the interface: a segment is one click from a broadcast, and a contact is one tap from everything you've sent them. Old bookmarks still work. Here's what moved, and the three things a contact page refuses to guess.

Zippy: four features that share a login is a folder. four areas that hand people to each other is a product.

We shipped segments. Then email capture. Then DM automations. Then broadcasts. Each one worked. Together they were a pile.

You could save a segment of the people who app-opened your last drop — and then had to go somewhere else, pick that segment out of a dropdown, and start again. You could see that a DM rule had replied to four hundred people, and separately see that you had two hundred email contacts, with nothing telling you those are two different sets of humans. The features were fine. The seams were the problem.

So this release doesn't add a feature. It removes the seams.

Four areas

The sidebar is now four things, in the order you actually work:

  • Audience — your people, and the segments that slice them.
  • Automations — the rules that reach people without you.
  • Broadcasts — the message you send on purpose.
  • Links — what carries all three, plus analytics, link-in-bio and your media kit.

Everything that's plumbing — pixels, webhooks, import, domains, team, API keys, billing — moved to a Workspace group at the bottom. It's all still one click away. It's just no longer shouting at you next to the things you use daily.

The connections are the point

A menu is not an integration. So the handoffs are in the interface:

Every segment has a "Broadcast to them" button. It opens the composer already aimed at that audience. Segment to send, one click, no dropdown.

Every contact is a page. Tap an email in your list and you get that one person: the link they joined from, whether they're still subscribed, the exact consent wording they agreed to, and every broadcast that was addressed to them — including the ones that were skipped, with the reason in plain language. A send that didn't happen is never silent.

Every automation shows who it reached, with the tags it stamped on each person, right next to the app-open rate of the link inside the DM.

The three things a contact page won't tell you

This is the part we want to be loud about, because the easy version of this feature is a lie.

A "unified contact profile" is the obvious thing to build. Show every link this person tapped. Show whether they opened the app. Show whether an automation DMed them. Every CRM screenshot you've ever seen looks like that.

Zippy's contact page shows none of it — and prints the reason where the number would go:

  • Which links has this person tapped? Click data carries no identity. Zippy stores how a tap landed, never who tapped it. The only link we can honestly tie to a person is the one whose page collected their email.
  • Did this person open the app? Same reason. App-opens are counted per link, not per person.
  • Has an automation DMed this person? Instagram gives us a scoped id for a DM recipient and never an email address. A DM recipient and an email contact cannot be matched to the same human. Not "not yet" — not at all.

We could have joined those tables anyway and let the numbers look impressive. The joins would have been wrong, and you'd have made decisions on them. A blank card reads as "no activity yet", which would also be a lie, so the page says the true thing out loud instead.

There is one honest bridge, and it's the one Zippy is built on: put a Zippy link in your DM whose page collects emails. The people who opt in show up in Audience with that link as their source. A link is the only thing that legitimately connects a person on Instagram to a person on your list, and it's the thing we do.

Your bookmarks still work

Two URLs moved, both with permanent redirects:

  • /segments/audience/segments — segments describe people, so they live in Audience.
  • /instagram/automations — Instagram is the channel; Automations is the area.

Nothing else changed address. And /instagram/callback deliberately stayed put: it's the address Instagram sends you back to after connecting, so moving it would have broken every creator's connect flow until someone edited settings inside Meta by hand.

On your phone

The app mirrors the same four areas — my people, my DMs, my sends, my zips. Audience and Broadcasts are read-only there for now: the phone is where you check the list and watch a send land, not where you write a long email or build a seven-dimension segment filter. When creators ask for a mobile composer, we'll build one. Until then we'd rather ship the honest half than a cramped whole.
